The staff at Brandon Hills Veterinary Clinic are proud of their continued accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association.
The Brandon Hills Veterinary Clinic is continuing its tradition of achieving the highest standards in pet care.
Brandon Hills, located at 733 17th St., has once again met the lofty standards of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
The veterinary clinic has achieved and maintained its AAHA accreditation since 1996, and this keeps the clinic at the forefront of veterinary care standards.
"What it does for us is helps us ensure we are providing the best possible care we can. We want to meet the membership’s high standards so we are continually improving the care we are providing," said Dr. Jay Thrush, who is a part veterinary owner, along with Dr. Frank Nichols and Dr. Trevor Shamanski. Dr. Jennifer Sletmoen is an associate veterinarian.
"It also keeps us from getting stuck in a rut … just like in human medicine, the field of veterinary medicine is continually evolving and improving and we feel that it sets us apart from the other veterinary clinics."
Indeed it does. Brandon Hills must meet the highest standards in all areas, including, for example, the medicine and equipment they use, customer service, animal care and staff training. Only seven per cent of Canadian veterinary clinics are AAHA certified and only three of them are in Manitoba — two in Winnipeg and Brandon Hills in Brandon.
"It definitely keeps us at the forefront of veterinary medicine and that we are providing optimal care for (our customers)," said Dr. Thrush.
Brandon Hills Veterinary Clinic is open Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on the weekend from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, visit brandonhillsvetclinic.com or call 204-728-2292.
34th Street Bar and Grill
The 34th Street Bar and Grill, located in the Victoria Inn at 3550 Victoria Ave., has a new look.
The restaurant has gone through extensive renovations to update the look and feel of the place and the renovation was just finished last week.
"It was definitely time for a change," said 34th Street Bar and Grill manager Amanda Barbeau. "Our old look was more of an old town coffee shop with a lot of antiques and things, our new look is much more modern and works for all ages and every group of customers. That’s what we wanted, for customers of every age to feel welcome."
Some of the renovations include the removal of the brick wall that surrounded part of the restaurant, new wallpaper, the removal of the antiques and other decorations from the walls, booths and chairs recovered and stained, as well as a new VLT area, complete with a new set of VLTs, which will arrive soon.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday in the restaurant. Lounge is open until 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Sunday hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
