Darren Burdeniuk, left, has hired Jamie Munro as general manager of the Dock on Princess, formerly Clancy’s Eatery and Drinkery, on Princess Avenue. The downtown eatery is expected to open in late November.
The former Clancy’s Eatery and Drinkery in Brandon is undergoing a facelift inside and out thanks to a new pair of owners.
The Dock on Princess, which is slated to open in the former Clancy’s location at 1133 Princess Ave. in late November, is currently undergoing extensive renovations inside.
Owners Bob Allen and Darren Burdeniuk, who both own other businesses (the Crystal Hotel and Dominoes Pizza) in Brandon, will still have the pub feel to the restaurant, but promise many unique and exciting items on the restaurant menu.
"We’re still keeping with that Irish theme," said Burdeniuk. "But we will have some menu items that will be a little bit different — dishes that you won’t see in Brandon."
Burdeniuk said the menu will feature about a dozen of the most popular pub food, plus in addition to the restaurant menu, The Dock on Princess will feature a special menu insert every few months featuring various holidays in the world.
"We’ll have a Cajun-themed menu when Mardi Gras is on and of course an Irish menu when it’s St. Patrick’s Day," Burdeniuk said.
"We’ll have a kicked-up casual type of feel."
Burdeniuk said the duo is in the process of getting a certified Angus beef licence and are busy installing new equipment in the pub and restaurant, including a new draft system. The fully licensed pub and restaurant will seat 150 customers in total.
"We were looking for an opportunity like this the last year and a half when it came up," said Burdeniuk of him and Allen’s decision to take over the space. "The setup is excellent and we like the space."
The Bloom Box
A local florist shop has received a prestigious designation from FTD.
The Bloom Box, located at 535 Princess Ave., has been awarded the unique FTD Premier Florist recognition, which is only available to florists in the FTD network that meet the stringent high standards of customer service, flower design and delivery service.
Bloom Box owners Trish and Shaun Fjelstead said they are thrilled with the designation and wanted to thank their customers for supporting them.
"We wouldn’t be here or have received that without our customers so we want to say thank you to our customers," Fjelstead said.
The Bloom Box offers a full range of FTD creations and specializes in custom arrangements.
