Princess Auto team leader Chris Wang is proud of the new store at 1855 18th St. North, which houses a larger and more diverse selection of merchandise.

Princess Auto in Brandon closed its doors at its 1800 18th St. North location on Feb. 4 and the very next day opened the doors to a completely new, bigger and brighter Princess Auto just a half block down the street.

Now located at 1855–18th St. North, Princess Auto boasts a spacious and well-lit 25,000-square-foot newly constructed store, more than 10,000 square feet bigger than its previous location. Adam Moore, assistant team leader at Princess Auto, said that the response from customers has been good.

"The last store was quite cluttered. This new store is very spacious and well lit — you can really see clearly where the products are located," Moore said. "Most people are in awe when they come in. Customers love how bright it is inside."

Moore said Princess Auto was also able to increase its staff numbers and add a different variety of stock.

To celebrate the new location, Princess Auto in Brandon will host an open house Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Princess Auto will be giving away pocket knives to the first 500 customers in attendance and have a number of other draws throughout the day, including a draw for an eight-foot inflatable pontoon boat.

Princess Auto in Brandon is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 204-726-0601 or visit them online at princessauto.com.

Blarney Stone Pub & Restaurant/Chicken Delight — Killarney Shoppers Mall

The Blarney Stone Pub & Restaurant is about to make the Irish town of Killarney a little bit more green.

Opening this weekend, the new Blarney Stone Pub & Restaurant is located in a newly renovated 9,000 square foot space in the Killarney Shoppers Mall, (located at 531 Williams Ave. in Killarney).

It shares a space with a newly renovated Chicken Delight — both are owned by Killarney entrepreneur Rick Pauls, who also is a co-owner of the Killarney Shoppers Mall.

The Chicken Delight in Killarney has been closed for the last two weeks while it relocated but both restaurants are having a "soft opening," this weekend and will be in the full swing of things come Monday.

Pauls said the Blarney Stone will help bring a little more of an Irish feel to Killarney.

"We wanted to create a pub with a sports-feel to it. We have big screen TVs in the lounge and a pool table. We will have eight different beers on tap — including Guinness. It’s been a long time since you’ve been able to sit down with a pint of Guinness in town."

Pauls said the Blarney Stone Pub & Restaurant will have a capacity to seat 200 guests and will serve some Irish fare, along with everything from chicken fingers and pub food favourites to New York strip loin steaks.

For more information, call the Blarney Stone at 204-523-7PUB (204-523-7782) or visit the Blarney Stone online at theblarneystone.ca or search for the restaurant on Facebook. The Blarney Stone hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and the lounge will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the week and until midnight on the weekends. Contact Chicken Delight in Killarney at 204-523-4605.

Dairy Queen

You might not be able to tell by the snow banks on the boulevard, but ice cream season is upon us!

Dairy Queen, located at 904 18th St., opened up shop yesterday, most likely to the relief of those of us who have to do without our ice-cream outings all winter.

Dairy Queen is hosting plenty of specials, including BOGO 99 cent Blizzards until March 24.

Dairy Queen is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and until 10:30 p.m. on weekends.
