After a fire that destroyed the Sturgeon Tire location on Pacific Avenue, Sturgeon Tire has reopened at 1126 Princess Ave. this week, with a new look and a host of new services for its customers.
It has been two months since the fire destroyed the original Sturgeon Tire and manager Brad Schwartz said while the company is still sorting through a handful of customer claims from the fire, the new location is now open and offering light mechanical services such as oil changes, wheel alignments and more, as well as tires sales and installations.
"It’s a nicer shop and more modern," Schwartz said. "I think customers will love it. It’s new, it’s up to date and we are offering more for customers."
The new Sturgeon Tire store’s hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Carriage House Antiques and Collectibles
Part of the fun of summer travel is stopping at local seasonal businesses like Carriage House Antiques and Collectibles to check out the wide variety of treasures it offers.
Carriage House will open next Saturday, May 19, in its seasonal spot, located 10 km south of Brandon at the junction of Highway 10 and Provincial Road 349.
Laurie Kovach and her husband Steve have operated the shop for the last 16 years and although Kovach says it’s hard work to get it up and running, it’s worth every minute.
"I love meeting people and I can’t wait to open up again (in the spring)," Kovach said.
The Carriage House offers a wide variety of glasswear, jewelry, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and the Beatles paraphernalia, furniture and more.
Kovach said Carriage House even has a room just for the guys called the "Men’s Room," which features stuff the guys love like tools and other items.
Expect to find something for everyone at the Carriage House.
"I’m working to get (my store) brimming with treasures. It’s got to be full, full, full," Kovach said.

Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons at 1655 18th St. has gone through quite the renovation and will be fully up and running today.
Over the last three weeks, Rhonda Pardy, Tim Hortons co-owner, said the restaurant has been "stripped down to the studs," and completely renovated inside and out.
The restaurant has been open during the renovations, with the drive-thru open during storefront renovations and the storefront open during drive-thru renovations in the last phase of the project.
Pardy said the renovations have given the restaurant a fresh look, but there are some new features like the self-order kiosk, which allows customers to order and pay with a MasterCard or a Tim Card, (and soon Visa) to allow them to move through the line faster.
Pardy said the restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible now and has baby change stations in both the men’s and women’s washrooms. There have also been changes to the drive-thru to help reduce wait times.
On May 22, Pardy said Tim Hortons on the Trans-Canada Highway will go through the same changes, but remain open during the renovations, with the storefront being open half the time and the drive-thru being open half the time.
Nancy’s Nails
An experienced business owner and nail technician has moved her business from British Columbia to Brandon.
Nancy Tran, owner of Nancy’s Nails, which just opened up 559 Eighth St., across from Real Canadian Superstore, chose Brandon to reopen her nail salon after selling her business in B.C.
Nancy’s Nails offers a wide variety of ascetic services including LCN UV Gel Nails, Solar Nails, Powder Gel Nails, Acrylic Nails, pedicures, manicures, waxing and tinting of eyebrows and eyelashes.
Nancy’s Nails is offering customers 10 per cent off all services for the month of May and a gift for customers who spend more than $50 before the discount.
Nancy’s Nails is open on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
