Do you like your lounge wear to reflect a little more of the clever and humorous you? Then check out The Lazy One, a new store in the Shoppers Mall which offers a wide selection of cozy lounge wear and pyjamas for the whole family, all with a humorous, nature-themed twist.
The selection of products includes everything from baby onesies to the adult version — full, one piece pyjamas with the “flap jack” on the bum of the pyjamas.
The store opened this past Sunday and is located right between Hedley’s Health Hut and Key Man Engravables. The Lazy One manager Colleen Bouchard said the store has an assortment of comical boxer shorts, pyjamas, loungewear, magnetic stationary, jugs and other gifts. Sizes range from infant to XL.
The Lazy One in Brandon is the first in Manitoba. Another The Lazy One is opening in Winnipeg shortly. For more information, call The Lazy One at 204-728-9277, or visit them online at lazyone.ca.

Get ready for one of the biggest weddings shows Brandon has seen.
The Keystone Centre’s UCT room will play host the Brandon Wedding Expo, next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7-8. Brandon Wedding Expo organizer Carlos Munoz said the full 15,000 square feet of the UCT Pavilion will be filled with everything you could ever think you needed to plan your big day — and then some.
“We have more than 50 exhibitors and everything: dresses, photographers, spas, hotels, media production, flowers and more,” Munoz said.
There are five wedding fashion shows scheduled — three on Saturday and two on Sunday, with big draws being held at the end of each show. Munoz said the Brandon Wedding Expo has more than $12,000 in door prizes to give away.
Tickets are available at the door and are $8, with $1 being donated from each ticket to the Canadian Cancer Society. Hours of the Brandon Wedding Show are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
While some of us are relishing the dog days of summer, more than a few of us are eagerly anticipating the opening of Spirit Halloween and the ghoulish delights the shop has in store.
Spirit Halloween has moved from the old Blockbuster location on 18th Street and is getting ready to open at 1800 18th St., next to Sears.
Lynn Defoort, who manages Spirit Halloween with her husband Don, said the target opening date of the new location is Friday, Sept. 6. Defoort said Spirit Halloween is double the size this year and will have an even bigger selection of costumes for all members of the family, plus fantastic Halloween décor for your home and yard.
If your little one found it too spooky last year, Defoort said they’ve changed things around, so that the children’s more friendly section is in the front and the really spooky stuff is located in the back section of the store. Defoort said Spirit Halloween will even have a selection of costumes for your pets this year.
Spirit Halloween is a seasonal store and this will be its second year running in Brandon. It is open until Nov. 1. For more information, call 204-726-0344 or visit them online at spirithalloween.com.
