Better put on your walking shoes, Brandon.
Renovations at the new Walmart Supercentre in Brandon are nearly complete, and the store is prepping for a big reveal and grand opening on Jan. 25.
The store has been open during renovations, which store manager Michael Humenny said has increased the floor space by 33 per cent to 174,000 square feet.
In this last week, Walmart opened the newest wing of the store, revealing a large grocery section, with wider aisles and more selection than the store offered before.
Humenny said the deli, produce, meat and bakery sections are yet to be completed. Also the centre of the store has been curtained off while staff reconfigures that area. Humenny also said the Brandon Walmart Supercentre is on the hunt for more staff.
"With the expansion we do need more people in all areas," Humenny said.
Brandon’s Walmart Supercentre is one of 40 Walmart Canada is opening, including three in Winnipeg and one in Steinbach.
Humenny said the grand opening on Jan. 25 will feature great deals and specials for customers all day and evening long.
And for you last-minute Christmas shoppers, Walmart is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to midnight, Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas Eve, the store is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Asessippi also added a new beginner area called the Jack Rabbit, which also has its own shorter snow carpet.
The Jack Rabbit and Bunny Hill are now situated closer to viewing areas. The handle tow has been moved to the Robin Run area.
Asessippi Ski Area and Resort is open daily until Christmas, closed on Christmas Day and is hosting a family New Year’s ski event until midnight on New Year’s Eve.
