Hey there, time traveller!

Congratulations to Dr. Gervan Fearon, who was officially given the nod this week as Brandon University’s next president and chancellor.
Currently the university’s vice-president and academic provost, Fearon will become BU’s first black president, which he says is a testament to how welcoming Brandon is.
“This is a welcoming, forward-thinking community and I’m really proud to be a part of it,” he told the Sun.
Fearon joined BU in 2013 as part of the senior executive team and in his current position, he has been helping develop its academic plan.
With his extensive background in other educational institutions, including Ryerson University in Toronto and York University, as well as his time as an executive assistant to the deputy minister at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, we think Fearon is a fine choice to take BU’s tiller.
Hopefully he will be able to continue to improve the quality of the university experience for students in the coming years, and also avoid another major labour dispute like the one that marred BU’s reputation in 2011.
