Caldwell and I putting Brandon first

One of the great joys of public office is the opportunity to meet with and to work with many different community leaders. Civic life is built upon the foundations of these hard working people, both inside and outside of public office.

Brandon is a community that we can all be proud of; I know that I am. I enjoy the great working relationships I have with politicians and citizens of all political stripes. We work across the aisle once elected, to do the best for Brandon.

There are those individuals who try to find, or even create, division where none exists. As we enter election “silly season,” people will have to be aware of mischief-makers.

This city has no stronger booster and there are few harder working politicians than Brandon East NDP MLA Drew Caldwell. Countless projects in Brandon are here because he continued the work done by his long-serving predecessor, Len Evans, in putting Brandon first.

Whether as mayor or as a private citizen, I have enjoyed working with him on many of these projects and look forward to continuing to do so for many years to come. It’s the way I look at things — putting Brandon first.

I for one am curious to know if Caldwell is actually considering running for mayor next year. I want to know of anyone that is considering this move. Can we hear now from Drew himself that everything is hunky dory between our current mayor and himself? I have heard for the last six months the rumour of Drew wanting to run for the mayoral chair, I think O'Connor, being friends with Drew probably knows the truth and that's why he printed, didn't sound like mischief making to me!
