CBC cartoon a depressing commentary

The editorial cartoon in Monday’s Brandon Sun of a truncated Band-Aid on the CBC logo is both depressing and dangerously mean.

The CBC carries the only complete online repository of Canadian cultural history dating back to the 1940s. The CBC network that connects every corner of our country from the high Arctic to the limits of our borders is a monumental national heritage the present navigators of our Parliament and Senate have put on their secret and selective chopping block.

If this is what the senior representatives of both houses of the nation of Canada have up their sleeves, we Canadians have been both deceived and betrayed ... for that Band-Aid is a cruel and unwarranted tourniquet on our creative abilities, our free expression and our democracy at a time when these things are threatened worldwide. I borrow from American Express when I ask each Canadian, “CBC? Don’t leave home without it!”
