Is it not great that we as taxpayers are about to purchase two power lift stretchers for our ambulances to relieve paramedics unnecessary back injury? The cost is approximately $3 to $8 million to replace all 175 ambulances across the province.
There is no doubt there is a need for them, and as taxpayers we should be proud to know that this service is available when needed. As taxpayers we currently pay for the ambulance, the equipment needed, the insurance, gas, oil, maintenance as needed, licence plates and the wages of the paramedics needed to operate these ambulances, so why does it cost as much as $500 for someone to utilize this necessary service if we have already paid for it?
