The 251 Bridge Committee in southwest Manitoba has again been disappointed by the government.
We were very excited to be planning the official opening of our new bridge on Highway 251 between Coulter and Waskada for March 29, then we hear from the powers that be that we will not be able to do this because there are more things to be done.
Could they not have notified our reeve and councillors what had to happen before it was officially open? What we were trying to accomplish when we heard that the bridge would be open for traffic at the end of the month was to link Ward 1 and Ward 2 and the Village of Waskada together after 33 long months.
Waskada is where many people go to work in the oilpatch and grocery store, bus school children, play hockey, curl, buy groceries, get their mail, etc. This NDP government has placed one roadblock after another in the reconstruction of this bridge and they are still doing their best to make the people wait.
I guess it’s all about politics.
