Program creates artistic opportunities

We are a husband/wife rock duo from rural Manitoba. We are writing to share our gratitude for the help and support of Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival and its artistic director Shandra MacNeill.

We have been given opportunities in the last year that have been invaluable to our growth and confidence as a band, including the emerging artist program and workshops with music industry professionals whose mentorship has helped us to clarify our vision and stay inspired to move forward.

These opportunities have also exposed our music to receptive audiences of true music-lovers and connected us with a support network of fellow artists. Without these opportunities in Brandon, we feel artists in this area (especially the rural area) would have a much steeper and lonelier slope to climb.

Shandra and the BFMAF continue to support us in our growth as a band and offer us unique opportunities that we feel would otherwise be far more inaccessible to us. We feel Brandon and area artists are extremely lucky to have the BFMAF and the inspiring dedication, support and creative vision of Shandra MacNeill at the helm. We are excited to see what opportunities the BFMAF can create for Brandon’s artistic community in the future, if fully supported in that creative vison.

Thank you.
