Settlement a win-win

I am writing to respond to the Brandon Sun article regarding the settlement between the City of Brandon and the Brandon firefighters, specifically the characterization of the settlement by the president of the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg, Alex Forrest as “a big victory” for the union.

As union president for Local 803, I can confirm that both the City and the union can and should regard the resolution achieved as a victory.

We are happy with the settlement and are looking forward to a productive and respectful working relationship going forward. It is time for the leadership of both sides to work together for the better of the Brandon fire department.
