Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Someone must look after veterans

My husband was a Second World War veteran serving in England, Italy, Belgium, France and Holland and returned home safely in 1945.

The reason I am writing this is about our young veterans coming home from Afghanistan with problems with no help and several have committed suicide leaving young widows and small children.

Why were they not looked after? I was appalled to see these young men commit suicide because they felt they had no future to look forward to. Veterans Affairs have improved. These young men could not work and there was no help for them, even at Shilo and Alberta.
