Arthur-Virden Progressive Conservative MLA Larry Maguire speaks during a rally on the east side of the washed-out Highway 251 bridge over the Souris River east of Coulter in 2011. Bruce Schwanke writes that Maguire has not gotten back to him about concerns over the deconstruction of the Napinka Highway.
Re: "Napinka Highway Deconstruction" letter to the editor of Sept. 13, 2013 (Melita New Era).
I would just like to give an update on information I have received from our local Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation contact and our representative at the Manitoba legislature, Progressive Conservative MLA Larry Maguire — absolutely nothing!
I left two messages with the highways department requesting information on what its plans were, no responses have been forthcoming.
I contacted Maguire at the beginning of September to see what he could do about the deconstruction of the Napinka Highway.
He knew nothing about it; claimed he would look into it and call me back promptly. However, his main concern was trying to interest me in a membership to the Conservative party, unnecessarily as we have all observed.
Days passed, heard nothing, so called again. He wasn’t sure if anybody had done anything yet, maybe waiting for a call back. Gave him my number again, said he would call back, NOTHING.
After two more attempts to contact him, I was told that there was a note for him, but, he was in Winnipeg. Umm, they don’t communicate with him in Winnipeg, or what?
Far too busy deconstructing democracy to be bothered worrying about the deconstruction of a local highway, I am inclined to believe.
