Why is it that when millionaire hockey players go on strike for more pay and extras we all go OOOOOOooohhhh … but when pilots, prison guards and teachers threaten job action, everyone starts trashing them and their work?
Thanks to the money media, we all hate public servants now … we wish they all would lose their jobs and brand them as parasites of the public purse.
Personally, I would recommend that these puck peddlers all would lose their jobs and play golf in Florida … except that so many people work for peanuts to put on the big shows and CBC-TV would lose 75 per cent of their audience stats and advertising revenues.
We are a nation of concussion heads … and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman (good name eh?) is just keeping everyone with their noses pressed to the boob tube because this is good propaganda for professional hockey. The amount of money “Hockey Night in Canada” floats is non-productive, makes nothing, robs the fans, makes our kids star-dazed hero worshippers and presses physically inactive people stuck on their couches with idiot advertising for an hour and a half every game time.
No one should win the lottery every time they put their sticks on the ice.
Maybe Bettman could draft public sector workers to shoot pucks on “Hockey Night in Canada.” Public sector workers on the whole get paid less per year than the lowest echelons of professional hockey players get in one televised game.
I guess I’m a poor sport eh?
