Trustee apologizes for tweets

In response to the article “Trustee Defends Anti-Tory Tweets” in the May 14 Brandon Sun. First, I would like to say that these comments, as accurately reported by the Brandon Sun, are mine and mine alone. They are in no way the opinions or views of the Brandon School Division board of trustees.

After a period of reflection I would agree that many of these statements were “over the top” and there are those who may find them, in fact, offensive. Many of the tweets were part of a longer online conversation between a family member and myself and were posted on Feb. 23 of 2014.

I apologize to the board of trustees and Brandon School Division for any embarrassment I may have caused them. It was not my intent to embroil them in any controversy.

I also, most sincerely, apologize to anyone who was offended by my statements. The people who have supported me in this role deserve better from me. I have always strived to represent the people of Brandon with honour and integrity and with passion. I apologize to all of you.
