In response to “Hushgate: So Who’s Really Being Secret?” (June 5).
Ms. Hamilton’s letter is full of misinformation and misleading statements.
I was not in attendance for the meeting she speaks of as I was not invited like so many others. I did ask that one of my staff members be able to attend with no response.
I agree with the Brandon Sun and local stakeholders when they ask “What is there to hide?”
The provincial government continues to use immigration matters as a red-herring to take attention away from their $184 million in tax hikes.
Ms. Hamilton speaks of alarming trends in her letter. The alarming trends I see are tax hikes, calling the Canadian natural resources sector a disease and a willingness to divide Manitobans and Canadians for political gain.
I am proud to be a part of a government that values national unity and economic prosperity for all Canadians.
I invite Ms. Hamilton to deal with the facts and not mistruths and scare tactics when defending her party.

Good for you, Merv. To me the most alarming trend is the secrecy and barring the media from attending this meeting.
