The board and staff of The Women’s Resource Centre would like to express our sincerest thanks to Frank McGwire and Lyall McDermid, organizers of Ridgefest 10, for another great year.
Ridgefest has been a great fundraiser for our centre over the past several years, and this year was no different. Our volunteers had a great time taking in some amazing local talent while raising close to $3,000 for our centre. We are extremely grateful for this support.
We would also like to make mention of a slight clarification in the “Happenings on the Scene” article dated Thursday, July 18, 2013. The article described our organization as “a non-government funded organization” ran completely on a volunteer grassroots basis. We do, in fact, receive funding from the Province of Manitoba, Family Services and Labour Family Violence Prevention Program. This funding allows us to staff a full-time women’s counsellor and part-time children’s counsellor. We also staff a full-time administrative position and a part-time program co-ordinator.
Again, our heartfelt thanks to Frank and Lyall for putting on a great weekend of local music while raising much needed funds for our centre.
