Sound Off -- April 14, 2014

We will eventually have to pay for it

Who should pay for the Eighth Street bridge repair? Not the trucking company responsible or taxpayers: likely Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) customers. Yes, no matter how you want to slice it, about 90 per cent of Manitobans will bear this cost in an increase of their premiums. In fact, didn’t I just read an announcement that MPI is considering an increase in premiums. Lucky us.

Blurred lines

Last year, I patiently waited all summer for lines to be painted on the tennis courts at 15th Street and Lorne Avenue. It never happened. This has me wondering why not and what are the plans for this year? As well, why did the paint come off so quickly when it was done last time?

A bouquet to a kind gentleman

From complaints to bouquets and this definitely is a big bouquet. When I was in a floral shop recently buying a plant for my birthday with a gift card from my son, a gentleman, not known to me, was also buying a bouquet and when hearing it was my birthday, insisted on paying for my purchase. A special thank you goes to him for being so kind and considerate to a senior citizen unknown to him and I am still enjoying my plant.
