Sound Off -- April 23, 2014

‘They’ won’t let ‘you’ down

I am going to assume that all of the negative people in Brandon who slam the firefighters without knowing the facts, have never needed them. I would also like to remind these negative people that they are also the men and women who provide the ambulance service. The good news to you negative people is they will still be there for you if you ever need them.

Thanks for being there when we needed you

I would like to say thank you to the firefighter/paramedics in Brandon who are the reason my mother is still alive. Our family will be forever grateful to you.

Start from the bottom and move up

In Saturday’s Sound Off, one of the comments was about seniors housing and why not more housing for the young. I have never lived in a brand spanking new house. I started small and over time moved into larger houses as my family required. When a senior moves into one of these places, then a younger family moves into their house. It’s how it works. We all don’t need or can afford to live in Brookwood.

Poor city design

It’s truly amazing how the senior bureaucrats in Brandon are so out of touch. Apparently a major shopping centre in the south end of the city will take years as the city wants to develop the North Hill first where nobody can get over the bridge because of major congestion now and they want to create more up there. I would not be surprised to see Walmart move to the south development if it ever got going.

Keep your sickness at home

Why are so many teachers coming to school when they are sick and spreading their illness among their students? These teachers say they can’t get a substitute teacher because the school division has cut down the sub list and got rid of any sub teachers who don’t work a certain number of days. Many other parents are asking what difference does it make how many days a substitute teacher works as long as they are doing a good job and so the sick teacher can stay home and not spread germs. If kids, and especially teachers, are sick they should stay home so they don’t make anyone else sick, resulting in these sick people passing their illness on to other people.
