Better to use private cash on old fire hall

Naysayers talk to hear their own voices? Come on! If someone wants to develop the old fire hall with their own money, bravo! Sure beats sitting on your hands waiting for government money to flow in from three levels of taxpayers’ money!

Check those bus driving hours

Re: In the Sun on Monday, Aug.13. For driving the school bus, if you start your shift at 7 a.m. and go until 9 a.m., that’s two hours. If your next shift starts at 3 p.m. and you are done at 5 p.m., that’s another two hours. Add the two together and you have four hours, not three. If the pay is $80 to $100 a day, that is $20 to $25 an hour, not $30. Oh … and you get to listen to screaming kids for those four hours. Nuff said.

Let’s show our support

Hats off to Sandy Robinson and her Waves of Hope dragon boat team. These girls are breast cancer survivors. They are making their presence at Manitoba parades and fairs to sell tickets. Prizes are a pink tractor or $15,000. Why? To raise funds for Waves of Hope and Murray House, which is a home in Brandon for cancer patients. Let’s help these girls reach their goal. Tickets are available at Murray Chevrolet Cadillac.

Hope you plan to be fair to all

Congratulations to the Mazers for letting New Hope use their land for their free pony camp for kids. I hope the city bureaucrats also close down any other businesses that were on the so-called flood plain and hope they are being fair to everyone. The city bureaucrats should get out of their office and tax the real criminals who are robbing and mugging people.

Why does part of the city smell?

Sometimes when I’m riding my bicycle along Pacific Avenue, I get a strong whiff of something that smells as bad as vomit. It’s right around the small industrial plant west of the City Centre Hotel. What could possibly be being fabricated that has such a pungent smell? And why is it allowed?

Maple Leaf should supply its own housing

I just read in Sound Off that Maple Leaf should supply housing. You know what? Whoever phoned that in, they hit it right on the button. With the housing shortage and all that, and Maple Leaf bringing in all their workers in. That’s a good idea whoever phoned that in.
