Have some wildlife of my own
I appreciate all the wildlife photography your photographers do — just some wonderful, wonderful work. I just saw one of the rarest things in my backyard here just south of Brandon. It looked like a humming bird — just the tiniest little thing you ever saw in your life. I looked it up on the Internet and found it was an insect, very similar to the humming bird but very, very tiny. There are a couple buzzing around the rose bushes. How do I ever get a photo of that?
We will miss you Stephen
I have lived in this town for more than 60 years and I was just so sad to see Stephen Montague announce he is not going to seek re-election. He really stood up to everybody and he really fought for his constituents. I wish he would rethink his decision — he will be missed.
It is hard on everyone
Regarding the Michael Bridges article in the paper recently. I know that what happened was bad but just remember he has a mother too.
Are we electing a mayor or a president?
You’re showing your bias again, Brandon Sun! Rick Chrest gets the big front page headline and Shari Decter Hirst is relegated to page seven? I am still trying to recover from Kerry Auriat’s suggestion of a first lady for Brandon.
Flower display envy
Congratulations to the City of Brandon Parks Department on their beautiful displays in the medians on our major roads. I was just wondering if they could identify some of these plants that they use in these planters so that visitors to our city and Brandon residents could try and duplicate what they have done.
City needs new stricter welfare laws
I agree with an Aug. 6 Sound Off that we need to eliminate welfare fraud. Why do we even need welfare for able-bodied people when we have hundreds of immigrants coming from foreign countries who can find jobs and support their families and contribute to the community? Why can’t welfare recipients do these jobs instead of being a drain on the taxpayers? If foreign workers can find jobs so can welfare recipients. City council needs new stricter welfare laws and stricter welfare controls and better enforcement so they can save millions in tax dollars and prevent further tax increases in the future and save honest hardworking taxpayers from supporting people who really don’t deserve welfare.
