If I did the same thing ...
Why is it that some laws seem to be applied to some and not others? Is public urination and drinking legal? No. But we see it every day in the summer under the bridge across the tracks by that hotel on Pacific. Not blaming the hotel, but why aren’t police cleaning out the dirty hobos who appear to have made a summer home under there?
Nothing in life is free
In what world is our mayor living? While I truly enjoy a party as well as the next man, the City of Brandon’s so-called “free” party for the “entire western Manitoba community” to mark WestJet Encore’s first official touchdown at the Brandon Municipal Airport on Sept. 3 must be paid by someone. And dollars to doughnuts, it’s the taxpayer. Unless her worship is picking up the tab herself. But hurray for the start of daily flights out of Brandon.
You are not fooling anyone
Hosting a “free” party? Is the mayor trying to make herself look good? Some of us may be naive and believe her, but I’m certainly not one of those people. Wake up, citizens of Brandon.
Can we keep this in perspective please?
“Who doesn’t love watching a plane touch down and taxi down a runway?” Brandon’s economic development director, Sandy Trudel is quoted in the newspaper. She was talking about the welcoming festivities on Sept. 3 for the arrival of WestJet prop service to Calgary. This isn’t the Wright brothers making the first controlled, human flight in 1903, for gosh sakes. Yes, glad to have some for of air service to a major hub that arrives at a decent time of day. But let’s keep our heads about us.
Shout out to Reston
Huge congratulations to the Reston Rockets of the Manitoba Senior Baseball League on their championship! It is refreshing to see a small-town team come out on top. Let’s hope they can find enough players to field a team next year. Way to go, guys! Well deserved and in great style.
