Brandon, you’re too predictable!
So for months, years, we have complained about the lousy surface on Victoria Avenue — the section owned and maintained by the province. It was even voted CAA’s worst road or something last spring. So the province finally agrees to repave a section of the road at a time and guess what? People complain that that road is closed. Please, Brandon, don’t embarrass yourselves. Stay off social media and other Internet sources unless you plan to thank the province for getting the work done.
The busy road gets closed and all these orange things get put in the street to stop traffic, but there’s nothing to tell people where to turn their cars well far away from the construction. So you know what? Our nice, quiet street north of Victoria Avenue in the west end has been like a demo derby as cars drive down, around and around and then make U-turns and just barely avoid hitting parked vehicles or each other. Put up some signs, provincial highways department, several blocks away please, telling people not to go down roads like 26th Street!
Drivers need a lesson in manners
Shame on the drivers on Victoria Avenue during construction. You want improvements but you wouldn’t want to be actually affected. Rude and irresponsible behaviour can endanger the workers on the site and the rude gestures and profanity certainly show your personal worth.
We’ll be watching you
Re: Group Homes Make Poor Neighbours. This sounds just like what’s going on in our neighbourhood. Some of our neighbours were robbed by residents of a group home. We, too, have cigarette butts, broken glass, beer cans and liquor bottles all over the place — which the “staff” never clean up. Now in the last couple of weeks there’s drugs and a steady stream of teens who don’t live around here coming and going and causing trouble. After this last round (the thefts), the police are now involved and the neighbourhood is organizing a neighbourhood watch. There will be a lot more eyes on the so-called group home from now on.
