All suited up and nowhere to go

Regarding the family fun evening that was going to be at the Sportsplex with the movie “The Lorax.” I would just like to know who it was at city hall who made the decision to cancel everything two hours before it was supposed to start? A lot of people showed up in their bathing suits who were wanting to have a swim. At least they could have let those people have a swim and a barbecue. It was not windy on the east side of the building. They still could have gone ahead with the swimming, the skating and the barbecue, and a lot of people wouldn’t have been terribly disappointed when they showed up there. I can sympathize with the decision to not have the movie due to the wind, but by 7:30 p.m. it is not all that windy. They could have gone ahead with most of it and then when the wind went down, which it did, they could have had the movie, too.

I apologize, but you startled me

This is to the young boy who suddenly came up behind me on a bike when I was walking. I am nearly 70 years old, so you really startled me. I apologize for yelling at you, but you came up so fast. Do you realize you should slow down because we both could have been hurt? Please forgive me, and I also forgive you for giving me the finger after you went around the corner. I know I scared you, too. So let’s learn our lesson from this.

Manager probably more of the problem

I don’t think that Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice should have been fired. The guy that is in charge of all this is the general manager, and he is the fellow that they should take a look at. He has had problems with other coaches as well, and the easiest thing for him to cover up his errors is to fire the coach. I think they should take a good hard look at this manager because I don’t think this guy understands the game of football.

Don’t believe everything on the Internet

I am embarrassed at what a local online forum portrays Brandon to be. Daily you read ignorant, sometimes racist, and often belittling comments regarding any range of issues. This website sadly makes Brandon out to sound like a bunch of backwoods racist bigots with no regard for their fellow citizens, from their active forum members. What might have been a good idea at one time has now turned into a soapbox for those who speak before they think.

Show some responsibility

I cannot help but get upset when I read about idiots who put free puppies and kittens in an ad and say, “To a good and responsible home only.” Hey idiot — if you were responsible in the first place and got your animal spayed or neutered, we would not have this problem. When are these irresponsible people gonna get it? I work in a rescue for animals and we are over capacity. If you cannot afford to get your pet fixed, you cannot afford one.
