It can’t just be me
More people would enjoy themselves at the Keystone arena if something was done about the public address system. It ain’t just my ears.
Whole city should be smoke free
@03.2 Sound Off Body Copy:Regarding fire pits and backyard campers. If people have to camp in backyards I hate to tell them, but
99 per cent of campers at campgrounds do their cooking on a barbecue and I bet most people own one. On the other hand, the city is having a problem with allowing firepits at the new Keystone campground, so why only there and not the whole city? This sounds like a double standard to me. Now there is no smoking in a park because children and other citizens try to enjoy the park and it needs to be smoke free. As a taxpayer, I want my yard smoke-free of all the firepits that burn in our neighbourhood. It isn’t new science that burning wood is bad for your health.
Thanks for the great summer at the skate park
Kudos to the city and other sponsors of the skateboard camp that took place over the summer at the Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skate Plaza. My son had a great time and learned many new tricks safely by the excellent teachers at the camp! Thank you!
Overworked employees due to staff shortage
In regards to recent discussion about paramedic shortages in the rural Westman region, like most businesses who cannot retain staff they blame everyone else instead of looking in the mirror. Maybe management and senior staff should consider how they treat their staff. Happy employees are far more likely to stay rather than look for work elsewhere. Also, it should be noted that if you live in a rural community outside Brandon you should contact your local EMS station and inquire how often they are in service with full staff. How often is your local EMS station covering their area or covering the next station’s area because of staffing shortages? You’ll be surprised at how long you could be waiting for an ambulance the next time you need one.
Who paid for the work done?
To the person who wrote in about the city workers repairing sod after he did work to his driveway — if you did work to your driveway, why were city workers putting in sod at taxpayers’ expense? If you damaged city property while putting in your driveway, you should have to repair the sod on the city’s property that you damaged. And if it was sod on your property, we as taxpayers shouldn’t be repairing it.
City won’t pave the worst street in Brandon
City workers I agree, they do a good job — it’s the administration we have trouble with. Centre Avenue is the worst street in Brandon. It hasn’t been paved for years and years, if ever, and the city won’t even give us a time frame as to when or if it will ever be repaved or paved. Come on, City of Brandon, get it done or give us a year at least.
