What on earth is a city doing owning a golf course?
Why are taxpayer dollars subsidizing a golf course when private enterprise can do this? This is as irrational as your government running a liquor store — or me being a brain surgeon! Get rid of it and use the money that will benefit the citizens of Brandon!
City could make better use of golf course
Regarding the Wheat City Golf Course. I completely agree with Coun. John LoRegio. I see they sold 175 season passes in a city of 50,000. I think that most of us are subsidizing their golf and I don’t agree with that either. I think we could make better use of that space with more walking parks or low maintenance stuff, etc.
Detour very busy
Hunter Road runs north from Grand Valley Road to the main highway. Very busy while Grand Valley was closed at 18th Street North due to flooding and still lots of traffic the rest of the time. It's a dusty gravel road with terrible washboard! Surely this could be paved.
War is all they know
Why does the West bother trying to broker a peace “yet again” between Israel and the Palestinians? These people have been engaged in a religious war for 1,000 years and unfortunately, probably for 1,000 more. That’s all they know, folks, they raise their children to hate their traditional adversaries. There will never be peace and harmony in that godforsaken land. War is all-consuming for them and I don’t think they’d want it any other way. I say let it be and the last man standing can shut off the lights.
Religion causes wars
It’s so discouraging to see the continual bloodshed between Israel and Palestine in the name of religion. This ongoing conflict has been going on for centuries with no end in sight. War is ingrained in these people from birth and unfortunately may never cease. Just think how peaceful our world would be, if not for religion.
Where are all the females?
Regarding a recent front-page photo. I know very little about Muslims. It states they are celebrating with family and friends. Where are the women? Main ingredients in my family is my wife and children. Is this day celebrated only by the men, no females? Just seems very odd, not even a daughter can be seen anywhere. Can someone please explain to me?
Fix up the airport first
Regarding the Brandon hotel tax review. If the idea is to change the current bylaw to enhance the tourism opportunities and better enhance Brandon’s hosting facilities without tying it to specific events, then why wouldn’t the first order of business be to direct the lion’s share of the grant money to the Brandon airport upgrade? This would indirectly benefit a wider range of Brandon businesses and facilities.
