Keep up the good work, Fran
Regarding Fran Henderson and her New Hope Equine Ministries. This is a free service. Never mind the location, Fran. Doing a wonderful job. They are doing it for children. Leave her alone and to heck with the permit. Good work, Fran!
Time for change
I am inclined to share the editor’s concerns about the state of the Manitoba Progressive Conservative Party. However, what concerns me even more is what an extended stay in power by the socialists would do to our province. They have been in power too long already. Maybe we need a new party like Saskatchewan and Alberta. Political parties do grow old and lose their edge unless they can find a dynamic leader to rejuvenate them.
No one is impressed
Regarding Sound Off of Aug. 3, “Sitting High For A Reason.” Who really cares if you drive a $70,000 truck so as not to have your front end wrecked. By stating the price, you sound like a lot of other Brandonites who seem to be impressed with their fancy toys. If you need your fancy toy for off-roads, then keep it to just that.
Lady ‘exhausted’ by big truck
This is concerning the article in Sound Off about “And More About Big Pickup Trucks” on Friday, Aug. 3. If this is the same guy with the dark-coloured diesel truck I saw the other day drive by as a lady crossed the street and then waited until she opened her door and then passed her and roared on it so that his exhaust went right into her car and into her face — well he shouldn’t even be allowed to be driving. He is mad and saying that people just can’t afford a big truck. Well, people can afford a truck. They just know how to drive them without being a complete idiot.
Big macho truck
I strongly disagree with the Aug. 3 Sound Off about trucks. Anybody who owns a $70,000 truck, jacked six inches higher than factory for “necessity,” has more money than brains. Take your noise and your out-of-control macho and give your head a shake. Next time I’m tailgated, the odds are good that it will be by someone just like you.
Working class blues
I am neither unsavoury, ignorant or unemployed, but I am one of the many who have had their rent more than double in the last few years and it is still going up. I hope you are one of the many people who live on a fixed income in Brandon and who has to live in one of the buildings that is owned by a landlord that does not fix anything. Most of them either own crap or the rent is so high you can’t afford it. My husband and myself both hold down full-time jobs and always will, we are hard workers and deserve better. We have never been able to save enough for a down payment for a house and we do not qualify for subsidized housing, other than Manitoba Housing, which is way too small for us at this time in our lives and often is dirty.
