Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Sound Off -- Dec. 12, 2013

Thanks for the photo-op

As a member of the Brandon Camera Club, I wish to send out a sincere thank you to all the staff at the Green Spot for allowing us to go into their garden centre on the morning of Dec. 1 to take photos. We had a wonderful time and were able to get some great shots.

Hurry up and wait

When is the city/highways going to upgrade the traffic lights in this city? The lights are too long in some places, where the traffic is low, and the turning arrows are way too short in a lot more — like 18th Street and Park Avenue or 18th Street and Richmond Avenue, to name a few.

Why do we pay more?

Why is gas so much more here? Winnipeg and small surrounding towns have been at 106.9 a litre for many weeks now. Why does the price in Brandon and surrounding towns remain at 115.9? We are gouged, gouged, gouged!

Stick with the basics

The front page of the Saturday Brandon Sun may suggest why our kids are falling behind in school. A ‘Sensory Surround.’ Please, my taxes are paying for this? We need to get back to the basic 3 Rs and cut the crap.

What kind of message are they sending?

For concerned and broke taxpayers of this city, you must read the City of Brandon’s affordable housing strategy on the city’s website. What are they thinking? Some of their harebrained ideas will encourage citizens to pack up and get the heck out of here while the going is good!

The answer to why do we pay more. Our Manitoba provincial government does nothing to the huge corporations re PRICE FIXING. I believe the higher the price of gas the more tax money the NDP GOVERMENT receives. To bad they would not consider using it on better roads in West-man. Does the thought of paying down the provincial debt ever cross their minds. I do not think so. I wonder what the real debt is? Is it 15 or 16 or 17 billon. It is xmas time so who knows what they spent this month.
