Not a very good track record
Manitoba Hydro wants another rate increase. Why should Manitobans be penalized for the meddlesome tactics of the NDP on the operations of Manitoba Hydro? When government ignores what the experts have to say, how can you trust them to do anything right? From Manitoba Hydro to Crocus Fund to a number of other boondoggles, I can’t understand why Manitobans continue to elect the NDP.
I have my own pension to pay for
Regarding Colin Craig’s column, “What Selinger Should Be Discussing.” Better yet, get rid of Selinger and the NDP at the next earliest opportunity and put in power someone who will implement some of the ideas that Colin advocates because if not my friends, we are going to eventually end up like Greece! I am tired of paying for government employee pension plans through higher taxes when, as a self-employed individual, I can barely pay for my own. I sacrifice all the time, why not the bureaucrats? If people like me didn’t pay taxes, where would the money come from?
The time has come
Former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher’s quote “Socialism works well until you run out of other people’s money.” Manitobans, we have arrived at that point. Someone save us.
Criticism of provincial debt off base
Yes, our provincial debt is too high. But the flood of the century did happen and it did cost megabucks to fight. Our governments (local and provincial) did step up to the plate to help Manitobans. Maybe they should ignore the next flood and let everyone fend for themselves; it would sure help to keep expense down and keep our debt manageable.
In regards to the story “Soldier Pleads Guilty To Other Charges” on the front page of the Dec. 11 paper. Why do you have to give such details? All you had to say was that he was convicted of indecent acts. I quit reading after the first paragraph. I realize you put a warning on but you are no better than the worst tabloid garbage. The shame is on you. (Ed. note: There was a content warning at the top of the story)
Think of the children
The Brandon Sun didn’t use very much thought in having that story “Soldier Pleads Guilty To Other Charges” on the front page. I have a seven-year-old granddaughter who can read and we don’t need that kind of stuff on the front page. It was wonderful to see “Sense Of Home Hits Fundraising Goal.” You usually do a good job, but please try to be more considerate of children.
You’ve seen that last of me
I was absolutely disgusted when I opened the paper of Dec. 11 and saw the headline “Soldier Pleads Guilty To Other Charges” — that is absolutely disgusting! If you have nothing better to print than the likes of that, then I am ready to discontinue your paper. To make something like that a headline in the Brandon Sun is absolutely disgusting. It is a disgusting story to begin with but to put it in a headline is ridiculous.
Please return if found
On Sunday, I went to Fabricland and The Dollar Tree stores, and somewhere in them, I lost my little tan leather coin purse that had lottery tickets in it and a extensive sign-up sheet, plus a small amount of money. I would really appreciate it if whomever found this coin purse, that they would return it to me, no questions asked. I’m sure the tickets are not “winners,” but it is the integrity of my “pool” that is lacking by not getting the sign-up sheet back, etc. Please drop them off at Fabricland or the Dollar Tree and I will pick up. Thank you!
Your honesty is greatly appreciated
A very sincere heartfelt thanks to the kind person who returned by wallet from the shopping cart at the west end Sobeys on Dec. 11 in the morning. Thanks again.
It is the law and they should be fined
I was in Manitoba Housing and I am the only one who moves my garbage bins back to my house. I am wondering why Manitoba Housing isn’t getting fined because they are not abiding by the law to move your bins back to the yard. And if you look on Garwood Drive, you would notice that they have a notice in the mail and they still don’t seem to listen. How come they are not getting fined?
