Golf course should be none of the city’s business
I agree with the former CFB Shilo base commander as to why should the city taxpayers pour tax dollars into a golf course that does not pay its way. This has always been a white elephant. We have golf courses all around Brandon. To these people who want to keep this golf course, I say you should take this over and maintain it and pay for it. This golf course at one time was private and they could not make a go of it, so I don’t think the city should get involved in it. This is not right. I am sick and tired of paying for something that I, and a heck of a lot of other people in the city of Brandon, do not use.
Thanks for the quick response
Thank you to the Brandon city sanitation department. Behind our place they brought a big bin to hold the garbage for an apartment block with more than eight apartments in it. That place had a whole pile of small bins, so when the private company delivered the new bin, then there were smaller bins scattered all over the place. We called the city sanitation department and they were there the next day to pick them all up. I just want to say thanks to the city sanitation department for coming out so quickly and cleaning up this mess.
It is winter ... it snows
What planet is the director of public works from? News bulletin: We get this amount of snow every year ... and yes, it can be early like in November. To the person who had the accident, I would consider sending the bill to the city. Yes, we the taxpayers will be paying that bill, but I would rather our money help you out than sending the mayor and any other city officials on trips or spent on wasted programs.
Vincent Massey puts on a great Christmas concert
Kudos to everyone involved in producing the Vincent Massey Christmas Concert 2013 at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium this week. An amazing evening of very great music! Merry Christmas everyone.
I am out of here
I would like to comment on our wonderful new Travel Manitoba slogan, “Manitoba: Canada’s Heart Beat.” The only thing that gets beat in this province is the taxpayer. A ridiculous eight per cent sales tax, a land transfer tax in which you pay two per cent on every house that is sold — if it sells fives times in a year you will pay that transfer tax five times. It is absolutely ridiculous what the NDP is doing in this province and if you people want to vote for them next time, that is great! I think Canada’s Heart beats me to Saskatchewan — I have had enough of this place.
