Taking the bullies to court
Association of Manitoba Municipalities delegates vote to fight merger plan. Best news since rumours of a Boston Pizza coming to Virden. It’s about time the NDP bullies had a session with the courts and the anti-bullying legislation.
In regards to these traffic studies and things in this city. I just spent five minutes sitting at a light downtown and I was the only car around. What do we need all these traffic lights for anyway? Just put in some stop signs and get traffic flowing more freely.
Bring back the food stamps
There has been a lot of concern about people not being able to afford food. Here is an idea worth thinking about, instead of giving social assistance recipients money, give them food stamps. This will ensure that food is on the table. How many use the cash for unnecessary items such as alcohol, cigarettes, cellphones, Internet and VLTs?
Bed and breakfast?
People are all wrapped up in plastic and cardboard and sleeping in the parking lot of the soup kitchen. They look like mummies all wrapped up like that. This building is supported by the people for those in need. Why don’t they open the doors so these people can sleep on the floor if necessary? Short term: find volunteers to stay overnight. Long term: apply for funding for this important need. Helping Hands has all the space from the dining area. Just move the tables over and give the homeless a blanket on the floor for now. At least we’ll keep them alive.
A generous act appreciated
I would like to thank the taxi driver who helped us unload a truckload of heavy tables in front of The Town Centre recently. He could have been frustrated with us since the only spot we could stop in was reserved for taxis. Instead, he hopped out with a smile to lend a hand. When I tried to tip him for his help, he didn’t want anything. Thank you for your kindness. I’ll pay it forward!
