Spiralling out of control
What’s with this government forcing amalgamation on rural municipalities and towns, forcing builders to build certain types of homes, pushing ahead with a Hydro project on the backs of rural Manitobans, all without either prior discussion or proper consultation? This province with its record deficit is spiralling downward in a spin that it soon won’t be able to pull out of and unfortunately it is going to take much of rural Manitoba with it.
Human kindness, where did it go?
On Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. with the temperature at -23 C with wind, a young lady had a tire blow on the Trans-Canada Highway just a few miles east of Oak Lake. Attempts were made to change the tire but the nuts are too tight, so she calls Dad for help. She waits 45 minutes for Mom and Dad to get to her. Dozens and dozens of vehicles pass the car with the flashers on the side of the road. Thanks to all the people who have forgotten human kindness in today’s world and could not even drive in the farther lane while passing her. However, thank you to one lady who actually did stop.
Give them the boot
I just received my new Canadian passport from Gatineau, Que., and attached correspondence was only in French knowing full well that it was being sent to Manitoba! Can we westerners please speed up a referendum which would unanimously “punt” this arrogant “have not” province from the rest of Canada? Their language is dying worldwide and the West is subsidizing them with billions of equalization payments. Let’s give them the boot and they can go it on their own and create their own currency, obviously they’d be a Third World country on par with Bangladesh and it would look so good on those whiners!
Thanks for the paper delivery
We would like to thank our paperboy who delivered our paper in Boissevain on Saturday evening. We really appreciate the effort he made to provide service to his customers, despite the paper’s arrival at the Brandon plant being delayed by bad weather.
Proud to be a Canadian
The other day I had some tests done at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and when I came out, I was so proud to be a Canadian and to have this kind of health care. Awesome! And the female staff were super great!
Thanks for solving the mystery
This is a bouquet to Tim Smith for his photo feature in the Weekend Sun regarding Clare Haralson and the red barn near Erickson with the Bible scripture printed on it. This landmark has remained a mystery for many, many years. Thank you, Mr. Haralson, and thank you, Tim!
Why so angry?
I had to laugh when I saw yet another angry Reform Party MP threatening and bullying an Opposition member in the House of Parliament. If this is how they react after winning a ruling, just imagine what they would be like if they lost.
