Busy intersection needs lights
When are we going to get some traffic lights at 13th Street and Park Avenue? This busy intersection is in dire need of some upgrade. There is always a long lineup of cars in all directions and many just don’t know the rules of the road — as in the right of way.
It is amazing how many people do not know what “STOP” means. Stop means “stop,” not “yield” or “do not stop at all.” Does not matter what age. Maybe police need to start giving tickets.
I was reminiscing the other day about a furniture store in Brandon named CDC. It was located in the strip south of the theatre, off 18th Street. It was run by the Bedowiches. I bought all of my dining room, living room and bedroom furniture from them back in the early 1980s and it was of such high-end quality that we have not had to replace a single piece of this to date. I have enjoyed this furniture immensely over the years. I would like to thank these gentlemen, wherever they are, for giving me something to smile about, be appreciative and grateful for, all of these years later. Thank you, gentlemen, for the opportunity of being able to purchase quality furniture while living in Brandon.
Not like the good old days
There is something happening in the city of Brandon. There are a lot of oldtimers who bought homes in and around 1980 and went into retirement. Everything worked very well from 1980 and into the 2000s. With the finances we had at that time, we had the house and we were able to manage, but now our taxes have gone up so much we are being forced to sell our homes and not stay in the city because my taxes personally went up $500 so far this year. My house will be going up for sale as I just can not afford this. I wonder how many other people are in the same situation.
Take note from the Kemnay bridge engineer
If and when they decide to replace the Eighth Street bridge, I would suggest they hire the engineer who built the Kemnay bridge (which keeps getting smucked by semis) — that thing can take a kickin’!
