Health care will never change unless we demand it
To the person who thinks our health care is free — well, give your head a shake! When we no longer paid premiums — health care was funded through our income tax and the income tax took a steep rise and that is how it is funded today. This was so everyone could receive care, and not only those who could afford to pay the premiums. If you don’t pay income tax — yes, you do get it free. It just doesn’t make sense for a specialist to have so many patients that they are treating their March patients in August! Terrible things are happening like the tragedies in Winnipeg recently. Seniors in public care homes are barely getting basic care. It won’t change unless we, the public, rise up and demand better for our money. If we are willing to wait and wait and wait and have the mentality that this is just the way it is and do nothing, it will always be that way!
Questions must be asked from within
I wonder how long it will take for aboriginal people to ask the questions from within the reserves as to where the money goes. The people must wonder why some live with all of the amenities, take trips on the band credit card and most of the others struggle day to day. Where does all of the money go? If outsiders ask the question, they are racist, so the questions have to be asked from within. It’s time that the residents stand up to the councils and demand the answers.
Your damage deposit does not cover the damage you do
To the person who asks what gives landlords the right to ban pets or smokers? We do! Pets ruin things! Dogs bark, crap when sick and barf all the time. Cats shed, spray and scratch everything. If you think your small damage deposit buys new rugs, paints new walls and ceilings from your smoking, wake up! Why don’t we also let you open for business with a brothel or meth lab? You said that is what the police are for anyway, in regards to noise. Give your head a shake.
Taking money out of the city
To all the people who did not want a casino in Brandon, why are they not harping on the bus tours that take people out of this area and let them spend their money out of the city or out of the province?
