Teach your children well
It is sad to hear that parents have to take a course on how to behave when it comes to hockey games, but it is just an indication of why our young people are the way they are now. If the parents don’t know how to control themselves and misbehave, how do we expect their children or the children watching to know how to behave? It is sad that it comes down to the parents having to take a course.
Thanks for clearing the way
After a recent snowfall, it was a pleasant surprise to find the 34th Street walking path had been cleared. Kudos to the city for getting this done so promptly!
Funds for all disabled are still too low
In response to the article in the paper regarding group homes for intellectually disabled people needing more funds to operate — all intellectually disabled people need more funds to live on. Our son lives with us and the government pays us rent for him. The amount we receive does not even come close to covering his utility costs, never mind taxes, maintenance, etc. He receives an allowance to cover his other living expenses, etc., but again if he was on his own, he would not have enough for food, forget entertainment, transportation, etc. He has had no increase in a very long time, but expenses are always going up! I understand that in the new federal budget, they are talking about funds to help disabled people obtain jobs, etc., but meanwhile they do not have enough to live on.
It is time for the BSD to stop draining our pockets
We pay too much already in school taxes. To the parents who say, “It is the right choice to raise taxes,” you pay for it. You decided to have kids. People who do not have kids should not have to shell out any more money. Keep the increase at zero and if people want the extra stuff, pay for it yourselves. As for the teachers getting a new contract, you make too much right now for the amount of days you work. Your wages are 80 per cent of our taxes. Time to cut some fat.
Thanks for saving my purse
I would like to send a big thank-you to the staff of the Subway Restaurant at 1060 18th St. in Brandon who were working on Saturday, Feb. 8. I accidentally left my purse hanging on a chair. They took good care of it for me until I returned for it several hours later. Very much appreciated!
