Great Winter Festival but couldn’t get in
The Winter Festival was probably pretty good this year. But we didn’t get to see any of the pavilions. We went to a few but had to wait one, two, to three hours to get in, so we simply left, as did many others. At least people were allowed to stand inside out of the cold for a change. As a large number of people simply go early and stay for the evening, the waiting line just gets bigger. Why they don’t set a time limit, when there are people waiting to get in? Maybe have performances starting every two hours, at say 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., then clear the place at the end of each performance. This would allow more to attend.
Let the ratepayers and RMs decide
If RMs wish to amalgamate, it should be the decision of the ratepayers in the RM and the current council of that area. It definitely should not be at the whim of the current provincial government. The RMs were not consulted prior to the announcement. There is no proof that amalgamation will save money or improve services. If it is similar to other amalgamations, the level of service will not increase but the costs will increase. Is this a government ploy to weaken AMM or to cause turmoil in the rural areas to take attention away from the current provincial government’s overspending problems?
Looking unprofessional in your jeans
I was very pleased to note that someone, other than me, is stating their displeasure at seeing people in professional jobs wearing jeans to work. I feel insulted if a professional person wears jeans when dealing with me. Digesting advice, whether financial, legal, medical, etc., is no picnic and I prefer not to deal with anyone looking like they are on their way to one. On Jeans Day I have seen people wearing very ill-fitting jeans, baggy or torn jeans, very worn jeans and jeans that looked unclean. Step it up, people, you don’t come across as professional if you don’t look it.
School board needs to make cuts like everyone else
Regarding the school tax. It doesn’t seem like it is ever going to stop. How do you expect people on fixed incomes to keep paying more? We are living on fixed incomes. Why does the school board want money every year when they are still getting government money? Start making cuts like everyone else. Perhaps start with the school board. There are too many on the board already.
Not holding my breath
Regarding the street lights, someone wrote in and said all you have to do is report the location, well I have to disagree! I have phoned Hydro numerous times about this area, two lamps have been black since November 2011! The last time I phoned I told them it has been a whole year, they again asked me for my contact information in case they have to phone for direction to the said lamps. I am not holding my breath that they will ever be fixed!
We need a new government
Our NDP provincial government is so money hungry they will tax everyone but farmers, for anything. They take your overpayments from MPI, to supposedly put into highways; they set up more new boards etc. for the high paying supporters; they don’t listen to Manitobans, only Winnipeggers; and say the hell with the elderly and homeless. They only support themselves and their ideas.

WestJet's routes are about providing competition, not accommodation.
Makes You wonder what upper management is thinking?
They want to go into competition with another airline on same destinations?
Maybe we consider using a Charter service for Brandon on a regular basis, then that would get their attention with the competition.
