More junior coverage
I thought it was lovely that Jeff Stoughton and his gang won the Manitoba curling championship again, but I would have loved to have seen the Canadian junior champions. Like Stoughton was on both the front page and the front sports page. I just think that if the juniors got more publicity maybe there would be more junior curlers.
Other options for air service
It is time to stop begging WestJet for air service. We should follow Kamloops example and buy two regional airliners and offer them to another carrier — Calm Air, for example. The Antonov 140, sells new for $9 million, seats 52, with a speed over 300 miles per hour and ranges over 850 miles and can be had with Canadian-built Pratt and Whitney motors.
Someone complained about businesses allowing their staff to wear blue jeans as it looks unprofessional. Have you ever seen the ladies working at our hospital? Low cut tops, giving everyone an eyeful, short skirts and boots that are more suited for a night on the town prowling for men!
Don’t care about their wardrobe
Hmmm? When I pick a professional, my main concern is that they are great at what they do. If the best doctor or best lawyer is wearing jeans, I don’t care. I’m hiring them for their skill set, not their wardrobe.
Thanks for the hand up
I want to send a huge thank you to the two young men who helped me on Saturday when my mobility scooter fell over on 18th Street. They not only helped me up but followed for a while to make sure I was OK. The sidewalk accesses have to be much better taken care of in the winter!
Part-time workers are necessary
I am a business owner in Brandon and I feel a need to respond to the person complaining about part-time employees. In this generation we have to have part-time employees to cover for your music festival weekend, apparently birthdays are holidays now, or “I have a sniffle” and my favourite one — “My best friend’s boyfriend’s step grandad died and I need a few days for the funeral.” Oh, and by the way, you stated that maybe $12 should be minimum wage for part time employees. Well, if you were worth $12 an hour, you would be paid that. Start your own business and we will see if you think the same way. You are welcome for the job opportunity.
Only in Canada eh?
I take exception to Mr. Marc George’s viewpoint in the Brandon Sun of Feb. 9. When I went to school, we studied history and Louis Riel was no hero, like Mr. George says in his comments. Our ancestors tried and convicted him as a traitor in a legal process, now we are supposed to say “no, they made a mistake.” Well, I do not agree and our schools are being brainwashed. Only in Canada would you get away with rewriting history to your liking to satisfy a small minority and then make it a holiday, once a year.
