BU coach gone viral
Great half-court shot by coach Gil Cheung to win tuition for a BU student and even better publicity for Brandon University. Way over two million views on YouTube as of Thursday afternoon. We have an international star in our presence. Way to go, coach!
It’s still too high
To the Brandon School Division, are we, the taxpayers of this city, supposed to be grateful that you didn’t raise the increase (as high) as you has originally stated? You need to go back and make this huge increase go away! People are tapped out in this city!
A message to the Brandon School Board
Get real! A 8.5 per cent mill rate increase! It seems that our school board has become a bilking machine. What happened to all the money the government has given to the school board? I don’t think you people have cut back far enough. I can’t afford to keep paying and paying and paying for your gimme-gimmies. It is time to put a freeze on bureaucratic spending and all this other stuff that is going on. Enough is enough!
Don’t blame NDP on this one
I wouldn’t blame the NDP government for the huge tax hike from the Brandon School Division. The NDP clearly noted that they questioned the hiring of teachers not needed until 2017. The problem is with the school board itself.
I am not going to take this anymore!
I have been an NDPer since I was born, you might say, and they promised us that they would take away the school taxes from the seniors and it has not happened. Drew Caldwell and his NDPers, I will never vote for you again! Out the door you go! In fact, what we should be looking at is a coalition against these tax increases. I have had enough! This school board tax increase is ludicrous. No more! Let’s get out there and fight them. Hold our taxes if there is any possible way! Let’s get a lawyer and say “screw you guys” — we are not paying!
Teachers could handle big classes when I went to school
When you think of it, when I went to school, a few years ago now, we used to have 35 students in a class. You know what? We were there to learn what our books said, the teachers would answer questions and give explantations. Having 35 kids in a class sure didn’t do us any harm. In fact, the years between then and now have been the most productive in Canada’s history.
Some day it will be too loud for you too
To the person who wrote about the high volume of the music at hockey games, I couldn’t agree more! The volume of the music at the Midget Wheat Kings games at the Sportsplex is so high, that it actually hurts the ear drums! I have no concerns about the choice of music itself, only the high volume. The music is left playing at the same high volume between periods. You are unable to comfortably carry on a conversation with the person beside you. Evening after evening, fans complain about the volume of the music. I have spoken to the management at the Sportsplex and they tell me they have no control over the volume of the music. I have spoken to the people operating the sound system and have gotten no response. Who does have control over the volume of music being played in a public place?
