Thanks for finding my ring

I would like to thank the person who found my wedding ring in Walmart on Jan.13 and turned it in. It was greatly appreciated!

Go home, Neil Young!

Go back to your homeland in California. Like other celebrities, notably A-Rod and Lance Armstrong, only the most naive believe your delusional socialist blather against our economic development and the Harper government.

More councillors should be concerned

It is good to see some articles in the paper questioning the spending by the City of Brandon in its budget deliberations. The interesting part is why it is necessary for those articles and why are the members of city council not fulfilling their responsibility and looking into that information as well. It is very disheartening that only one councillor — Coun. Montague — seems to be concerned and is interested in cutting spending.

Kudos to Brandon city bus drivers

Yesterday, a woman was giving one of our bus drivers the gears for making her wait 10 minutes. Well, lady, I have something to say to you — suck it up. Did you think the driver was hiding around the corner from your stop munching on Sara Lee cookies and drinking coffee? The Eighth Street bridge is closed, causing rerouting, and the weather has not been balmy lately. A few days ago, an accident on the 18th Street bridge caused traffic to be backed up for about a kilometre in both directions. What is the driver supposed to do? Just barge through, smashing up anything in his/her path so people like you won’t be annoyed? It takes a very skilled driver to navigate a vehicle the size of these buses in the summer, but winter driving has to be a nightmare. I’d like to see you try it! Why don’t all riders give your driver a smile and tell him/her you are proud of the job they are doing under such challenging circumstances. It will take away some of the stress and make their day just a little brighter.

I'm lovin' the controversy the Neil Young tour is creating. I won't even hint that there is any comparison between the two men but I don't recall this kind of reaction in 2009 when the highly esteemed, former premier of Alberta, Peter Lougheed was calling for a slow down in the development of the oil sands and deemed it wise to regulate the pace of growth. No one could ever accuse him of "delusional, socialist blather" - although in today's political climate anything is possible.
