One never knows what the future holds
In regards to senior affordable housing. We retired on a healthy pension with a nest egg to tide us over. We are the seniors who helped build Brandon to what it is today. Unfortunately who knew that inflation would skyrocket to what it is today back then. Pensions have not kept up with the inflation, however hydro, water, rents have gone up considerably. So by preparing affordable housing for today’s seniors we are in fact preparing affordable housing for the next generation that will be retiring. And believe me you are going to be in the same boat as we are. This also goes for the councillors who think they will not be in this position when they retire.
Cheers for Rick Chrest
This is just a “hip hip hooray” for Rick Chrest in his running for mayor! He is a great person and I know he will do great in his running.
Let’s find out who we are voting for please
It’s positive to see a former councillor with some experience run for mayor. But I hope the Brandon Sun carefully examines his performance in his past jobs, such as when he was general manager of the Keystone Centre and then the Chamber of Commerce. How did those two places do under his watch? And I would hope anyone who comes along and wants to be mayor is thoroughly examined by the paper for all of us to read and then help us to vote.
This says it all
The other day I read a very cute yet profound bit of advice and I quote, “Honk if you love Jesus. Text while you drive if you would like to meet him.”
Better get it cleaned before the next snowfall
The City of Brandon I hope will clean the walking path on Braecrest Drive soon! It really does need a snow removal as several people walk that path — adults and children, joggers and walkers, and folks with dogs. I hope it is done by the weekend.
Missing DOT booth
My wife and I have been attending Ag Days for 20 years. It was a shock today to not see the typical crowd gathered around the Motor Carrier Enforcement (DOT) booth. Oddly it was always a popular one. I always enjoyed seeing what was new and gathering info about moving and securing machinery as well as the annual road bans that come on in the spring. Very friendly group of guys. Hopefully they will be return next year.
