If you don’t like the PST hike, then leave
I am getting sick and tired of these folks who do nothing else than complain about the one per cent PST hike. You sure don’t hear from them when gas prices go up two to three cents, which is more than one per cent at the moment. And if you want to leave Manitoba — GO — the sooner the better. You will never be satisfied wherever you live and will make those of us who want to live in this great province happier.
MPI off the mark
@03.2 Sound Off Body Copy:How does Manitoba Public Insurance’s calculations keep that raised truck’s bumper out of a car’s window
if something goes wrong? The feds put a lot of time into creating safety standards for crash beams in doors
and bumper heights. These raised trucks are higher than most, if not all, semi-trucks and dump trucks around the city.
Good products sell themselves
When Saskatchewan residents come here to buy a car or truck, we welcome them with open arms. And why not! Yet, according to the province’s Buy Manitoba program, food not grown locally, i.e. within our borders, is definitely not cool. It takes two to tango, does it not? The Buy Manitoba program is a nice, cuddly idea, but rife with contradictions and arguably counterproductive. Ditto, Buy Alberta, Buy Ontario, Buy B.C., etc. Good products sell themselves. Why don’t these provinces get together and agree to drop this nanny-state nonsense?
Watch the one you’re with
It was interesting to see a senior official in the city’s planning office sitting in the stands watching volleyball with a prominent businessman. This is just fair comment as it was in plain view of everyone. What would other developers or those in the building industry think if they saw that? Appearances are important. Nobody likes to think anyone could have an advantage — real or perceived — in such a competitive business sector.
Manitoba health system makes her cry
I’m sick and tired of our Brandon hospital. My mom has been off work for almost three months now and has almost used up all of her sick time that she saves so we can go on vacations as a family. Every time she has an MRI booked it gets cancelled. She loves to work and do things on her own, but she is told to not overdo herself until the MRI confirms what is wrong with her knee. Well, what the heck the MRI gets cancelled. So very unhappy with our health system and if I had the kind of money to take our hospital to court, I would! It is so tough to see your mom cry because she do not know what is wrong with her. Very unhappy and sad.
