Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Sound Off -- Jan. 30, 2014

Outstanding orchestra

I would like to commend 7 Ages Productions and Mecca Productions for their recent wonderful presentation of “Les Miserables.” The cast did a great job, James Comrie in particular. Having said that, I would like to recognize the outstanding musicians who made up the orchestra and their conductor, Katherine Sherris. This musical doesn’t have any down time for the musicians. They played for three solid hours with nothing more than a 15-minute intermission and were truly the backbone of this production. Musicians are what make a presentation come to life. Take away the music from a stage, screen or video production and see what happens. Congratulations to the orchestra for a job very well done.

Great live theatre in Brandon

The production of “Les Miserables,” by 7 Ages Productions and Mecca Productions was outstanding! What a very talented group of local performers and musicians. To be able to pull that off for six productions with two each on Saturday and Sunday is amazing to me. If you didn’t go, you missed an awesome show.

Thanks for the coverage

I would like to thank the Brandon Sun for its coverage of Manitoba Ag Days. It is very much appreciated.

Bravo to the postal service

With the help of a courteous postal clerk, I mailed a parcel to the Netherlands on Jan. 22 and on Jan. 26, I received an email saying that the parcel had arrived. All I can say is wow!

Come out and show your support

What is with the attendance at the Wheat Kings games this year? They are having a good year and in the thick of the playoff race and there have only been 3,000 at games for most of the season.

Keeping it clean

To the landlords who advertise “no pets,” you have not done your homework! Since 1998, I have rented two townhouses, one high-rise apartment, and presently a house. I have always received my damage deposit in full. I also own a small non-shedding dog (8 kg.). I use my rented accommodation as if it was my own. It is clean, carpets done professionally two times per year. If per chance my dog has an accident, it is cleaned immediately with a professional cleaner. I would suggest you follow up with references and an on-site visit. Don’t assume your tenant is responsible — many are not!
