Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Sound Off -- July 10, 2012

If you took better care

I wonder why there is an overstock of animals at the pound. Maybe tenants should be more careful with their pets and then landlords would allow animals.

Welcome to our potholed city

What is the city of Brandon doing? Spending money on new highway signs? Haven’t you noticed there are potholes to be fixed?

Do you have a permit for that?

I would like to know since when does Manitoba Housing allow fire pits in their backyards when it can burn down other people’s houses or their units? They are not very responsible.

Getting back to basics

Is there anyone out there who can tell me why the basic essentials we need — like Tide, meat, cheese, toilet tissue etc., has gotten so expensive? Soon we will have to relocate to Kraft Dinner and the old Prairie sod or outhouse and the newspaper!

Just like kids, if you have a pet you should be in it for the long haul

If you don’t want a pet long-term, why get one and say you have no time for them or you have a baby and have to get rid of the pet? There should be a law enforced saying that if you get a pet you should be responsible to pay for it until it gets old and dies like everything else, like kids and everything else. Maybe people who buy pets would be more responsible in looking after them and stop getting puppies and then throw them away when they get older and they don’t want them anymore.

Not just music in the park

On July 5 there was Music in Princess Park, and between some people smoking pot and drinking beer and swearing, it was not a very pleasant evening to enjoy. I think that park should be cleaned up.

Charge the law breakers

If the police started charging the people who are buying the illegal tobacco products from the smoke shop this ridiculous disrespect for our laws would stop pretty quick. Come on!

Complaints to the wrong departments

To the person complaining about the wages of city managers and some top staff — how about complaining about the grants that are wanted for the Strand Theatre, Dome Building etc. Remember this, it is our tax dollars that go to those grants. Start complaining about that instead of people who are working and paying taxes.

It’s called progress

For the people in the Clear Lake old campground, did you really think progress was never going to happen? If you don't like it, you have the right to sell.
