Costs of having a casino
I certainly agree with the July 5 Sound Off, “Keep Our City Clean And Casino-Free.” The comment referred to Brandon missing the boat again — smells strongly of a greediness for money. What about the hardships of those families where addictions becomes a factor and the cost of rehabilitation after that?
Watching our tax dollars travel down the road
The individual who advocates “Keep Our City Clean And Casino-Free,” in July 5 Sound Off, is way off base on two facts. Firstly, it is human nature! If a gambler can’t gamble at home, he/she will go to where it is available. And secondly, Brandon did miss the boat by not bringing a casino to Brandon because tax dollars have gone to other locations, and I would bet that it is the “no” casino people who complain the most about increased taxes.
Thanks for your honesty
Hats off to two young people who found and returned my gold bracelet at Houstons. And then a week later, my husband lost his wallet at Houstons, and that was found and returned with all contents — no questions asked. May you be proud of the good deed you did! Bless you both and we thank you.
Good luck athletes!
I would like to wish good luck to all the Westman Special O athletes who have gone to Vancouver for the nationals. We are so, so proud of each and every one of you. Good luck!
Big thanks go out to MTS and Manitoba Hydro
I think the men and women of MTS and Manitoba Hydro deserve our heartfelt thank you. In the aftermath of the recent storm, these people faced the monumental task of restoring service with steadfast dedication. The people answering the phones were nothing but polite, professional and helpful answering the same questions hundreds of times a day. MTS advised me it would be Thursday before they could restore my services (inconvenient, but nothing more) however, by some miracle they managed to do it last Monday. So thanks again ladies and gentlemen, your good work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
