People placing buffer zones should visit a West Nile patient
We have never had mosquitoes this bad ever and now I find out we are in a buffer zone. So thank you ever so much for those wonderful people who do not allow my yard to be sprayed. I wonder if any of these people have ever been to a hospital and seen people with West Nile virus because I have. So I can thank them if we end up getting it!
You are putting our lives in danger
I think it is ridiculous that one person can decide whether or not they want their neighbourhood fogged for mosquitoes. Why is the city allowing the rest of the people to suffer? This is not right; nor fair. Perhaps these people who request buffer zones should seriously reconsider. Or the city could come up with an alternative. There are viruses now that mosquitoes carry and one bite can make the difference in your health. My family does not spend time outdoors often any longer as the fun is ruined. I am sure we are not the only ones.
Hope you enjoy the summer
This is a thank you to the neighbour on Cedar Bay who put everyone in the buffer zone. I hope you enjoy your skeeter-infested yard all summer long.
School trips should at least be educational
Education does not end when the report card is completed. Why are taxpayers paying $80,000 to $100,000 for educators to babysit students at gaming establishments and spray parks during school hours? Why are these educators not in the classroom teaching? Math, spelling, art, music, science, creative writing? If class trips are required during these last school days, surely the trips could have a required educational content. Lay off the teachers and let parents pay their own daycare.
Casino-free advocates missing the true picture
Addicted gamblers have multi-slot machines already here in Brandon. A casino would have revitalized downtown Brandon and would have contributed to lower taxes.
Time to move on
I really wish the complaining about a casino would just stop. We have a wonderful city that is quiet and great to live in. Let us keep it that way. We can find other ways to boost the economy. Brandon as a majority voted “no” a few times and having a casino not far away is at least better than having to travel too far. Let us get to the real issues now.
