Opening the door on Habitat

I hated seeing Habitat Manitoba get a full page to try to justify their taking over of Habitat Brandon. Our local affiliate was building those houses up to code as the inspectors were there all the time checking. Also that woman who complained about the paint after several years. When you buy a house, it is your responsibility to maintain it! I was a single mother, too, and when a room needed to be repainted, I taught my kids how to do it. We would all get together, turn on the music and have a fun afternoon.

Where’s the museum?

At one time Brandon had a museum at the Brandon Mental Health Centre that displayed fabulous artifacts and pictures that provided a history of the centre and treatment of people with mental health challenges. Since the closure of BMHC, this museum has been in storage waiting for a permanent home. With all the wonderful museums in Brandon, wouldn't this museum be an important addition to the history of Brandon?

Greens are good to eat

To the person who wants to eliminate dandelions. If you ever go overseas and order a meal, you will probably eat the “greens,” which is nothing but dandelions. This is what keeps people from getting cancer elsewhere. You will also see many will take their holidays just when their green leaves appear, because that is the time they are sweet and nutritious. So, this person will do well and start picking some of those “weeds” instead of passing the death sentence to them!

Gives hope for the future

A big bouquet to the Grade 8 students at Kirkcaldy School for letting us be a part of an assignment “Past Memories.” We live in a seniors complex. We enjoyed reminiscing with such kind and caring students. It is nice to see the upcoming potential of our young people.

It’s worth a try

Have those who complain about no fogging ever tried Listerine to keep bugs away? Just put Listerine on a paper on a picnic table and wasps vanish. Put Listerine in a spray jar and spray around door, garden, etc.
