Speaking for generations to come
If you cannot live without your dishwashers, washing machines and jet bathtubs, why did you buy at Clear Lake in the first place? The issue surrounding water at the old campgrounds has nothing to do with generational differences. There are those of us of all ages who wish to respect the environment and protect park accessibility for people of all income levels. There are others who, through a deeply misguided sense of entitlement, believe that their wants (no, they are NOT needs) supersede all other considerations. What you are hearing in opposition to your idea of “evolution” are not the “complaints” of people who can’t get with the 21st century. Ours are words of protest that speak not only for generations today, but for those to come as well. A world view that extends beyond myopic and self-centred desires? That is what we call progress.
Back lane blues
Regarding the back lane problems. Some of us don’t have the option of being able to park in front of our homes. Having to park in the back every day you are forced to drive by garbage that has been left from last year, derelict vehicles, fences falling down and a back lane with so many potholes which makes it risky even driving down the back lane. So it is disheartening. Hopefully we can get a little bit of gravel from time to time. It is a minor complaint to some people who have other options, however, how would you like this at your back door?
Do the responsible thing
To the person who wrote in with the lack of ownership supervision due to a dog getting “knocked up.” This person was upset because their dog was getting “knocked up” from loose dogs in the area. I am hoping that this person is not that naive to believe that all dogs running lose in Brandon belong to owners. You need to get your dog spayed even if you don’t believe in it because that is why we have dogs running around lose without any owners. So please do the responsible thing and get your dog spayed.
Drivers need to take responsibility
Wow, to the individual who blames the flag man for accidents, please it is us, as drivers, that should be paying attention. If you’re looking ahead, can you not see there is construction going on? What is an individual doing that they hit four cars which are stopped? So maybe stop and think before you blame a flag person or the construction crew. No, I don’t work for a construction company, neither am I married to someone who works for one. I just get tired of people blaming someone else for mistakes made on the road that are driver-related.
Too many taxis
The taxi situation here is getting ridiculous. The taxi companies have almost more cabs here than there is in Winnipeg. Each cab driver is suffering if they have their own vehicle and are trying to make their own cash, and they can hardly make it because there are too many cabs. Even all winter it was a hard time for cabs. We are having a hard time making a go of it.
War games over Killarney a waste of money
Regarding the jets flying over Killarney with the war games. This jet flew around in a circle going to the left 10 circles or more and he made about two dives right in a populated area, and anybody could have shot him down. I don’t know what kind of war games he was playing, but he had a pattern and was really predictable and he would have been real easy to shoot down. It was a real waste of money and he could have killed a whole bunch of people if something had gone wrong and he crashed into the town. They should have had those war games out in Shilo, shooting at an old car on the gun range or something.
Soccer tournament a big success
I would like to say a big thank you to the coaches, the refs and the kids who played in the soccer tournament this past weekend. It was very well done. There was a couple of incidents where the refs had to have some help but on the whole the kids had a great time. The medals are gorgeous. I am a very proud grandma. The kids deserve a hand.
