Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Sound Off -- June 6, 2014

An up-front criticism

Really, Brandon Sun! Three RCMP members killed and two wounded and this is Page 8 news in your paper, see the winning goal in the hockey game made your deadline. Talk about disrespect to our RCMP force and the RCMP fallen members. (Ed. note: Absolutely no disrespect was intended. What we didn’t want to do is provide untimely information on the fast-changing scenario Wednesday night happening two time zones later than us. The story was “lugged” on the top of A1 and presented inside with the facts we had at press time Wednesday. Updated information was available on brandonsun.com Thursday morning. And now that we know more, there is fuller treatment of the story starting on A1 today.)

Good grief, what’s the holdup?

Why doesn’t the city — the people who we elect and employ — do what the real majority of us want and spray for these bloodsucking bugs that make the little bit of joy we have each summer season a real struggle? Listen to us. And I hope this fogging issue is brought up in the election campaign.

One person’s thoughts on mosquito fogging

Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! Fog! ...

This issue is as regular as the bugs

Why must we go through this issue about fogging each year? It’s fairly clear to my family that whatever arbitrary number the city has adopted to be its spraying trigger is too high. You want nuisance mosquitoes? Come and sit in my backyard. Maybe we need a change this fall at city hall.

A cavalcade to the conference

I see Mayor Shari and three councillors had to attend the FCM conference down at Niagara Falls, why did four of them have to go? No wonder our taxes are so high! What did they learn down there?

Thanks to the ‘kind’ person

Just wanted to say thank you to the wonderful person in a local drug store parking lot who hit my driver’s door with one of their doors on June 1, at about 5:30! I purposely parked where there was no one else and I even took a stray hopping cart into the store so it wouldn’t hit my car or anyone else’s. If you can’t judge distances, maybe you should quit driving!

RE: The Ed. note in "An Up Front Criticism'. You said you didn't want to, "provide untimely information on the fast-changing scenario Wednesday night happening two time zones later than us." Moncton is two time zones "ahead" of us, not later than us.
